Privacy Policy
What we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.

The short version: if you fill in our enquiry form we collect your name, email, and what you tell us about your product, and we use it to reply to you. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and we record which advert or search brought you here so we know which marketing is worth paying for. We don't sell your information to anyone. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing scott@thecreativecoefficient.com.
1. Who we are
Creative Coefficient (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an industrial design and product development consultancy operating studios in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. We are the party responsible for the personal information collected through thecreativecoefficient.com.

2. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you submit our enquiry form we collect your first and last name, email address, the stage your product is at, and the description you write. A phone number is optional. We also record which page you submitted from.
Please don't send us confidential technical information, trade secrets, or anything commercially sensitive through the website form. It travels through third-party services described below and is not a secure channel. If you need to share something protected, tell us and we'll put a confidentiality agreement in place first.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, and screen size.
- Usage data including the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, what you click, and the site or search that referred you.
- Server logs generated by our hosting provider, which include IP addresses and are retained for security and diagnostic purposes.
Advertising and campaign measurement
We advertise on search engines. When you arrive from an advert, the link carries identifiers that let us connect your visit to the specific campaign, ad group, and search term that produced it. We store these in your browser so that if you submit an enquiry later in the same visit, or on a return visit, we can tell which marketing worked. The identifiers we capture are listed in section 4.
This is measurement, not profiling. We use it to decide where to spend a marketing budget. We do not use it to build a profile of you, to make automated decisions about you, or to change what we show you.
3. Why we use it

We do not send marketing emails to people who have only submitted an enquiry. If that ever changes we will ask you first, and every message will carry a way to opt out.
4. Cookies and browser storage
Cookies and equivalent technologies store small amounts of data in your browser. Here is everything this site uses.

You can clear or block all of these through your browser settings, and you can install a browser extension that blocks Google Analytics specifically. Blocking them will not stop you using any part of this site. If you clear your browser storage, the campaign identifier is gone and we simply won't know how you found us.
5. Who else can see it
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. We use the following service providers, each of which processes some of your information on our behalf.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
Information leaving your country
Because the providers above are based in the United States, your information will be stored and processed outside Canada and outside Australia. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from your own, and foreign courts and authorities may in some circumstances be able to compel access to it. We choose established providers that contract to protect the information they hold, but we want you to know where it goes before you send it.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to a project: up to two years, then deleted. Design projects have long lead times and people often come back.
- Client records: for the duration of the relationship and then for as long as we need them for tax, insurance, and professional records, typically seven years.
- Analytics data: retained by Google according to the retention period set on our property, currently 14 months.
- Campaign identifiers in your browser: 90 days, or until you clear your browser storage.
7. Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us to do the following, and we will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Give you a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete it, unless we are legally required to keep it.
- Stop using it for a particular purpose.
- Explain how we obtained it, if you don't know.
Depending on where you live you may also have the right to receive your information in a portable format, to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent you previously gave.
Email scott@thecreativecoefficient.com with what you want. We'll acknowledge within five business days and respond substantively within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, so that we don't hand your information to someone else.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and the services we use encrypt data in transit and at rest. Access to enquiry and client records is limited to the people who need it, which for a studio of our size is a small number. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
9. Children
This is a business-to-business site and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will make that clear rather than quietly amending the text.
11. Complaints
Please raise a concern with us first at scott@thecreativecoefficient.com. If we can't resolve it, you can escalate.
